Starting and designing a new club can be challenging, exciting and quite difficult however do not fear, Derbyshire Netball and England Netball are here to help.

Firstly, you need to establish which type of netball club you would like to set up; whether it is a back to netball session, a junior or senior club or perhaps an adult club, disability club or mixed netball club. Knowing this before will enable you to make a lot of easier decisions.

Once knowing this, securing a place to training and times of this training along with a coach to deliver the sessions is the next step. Promotion of the club is vital during the lead up to the first session and throughout the early stages in order to get the club name out in the community and to encourage all to be involved. This can be done with flyers in local shops and community areas, websites,  posters, advertisement in newspapers, Facebook and twitter.

When starting the club, ensure you have designed a membership pack including a form asking all the relevant contact details, health related issues and the current level of netball which the individual is at. This information is to be kept confidential and for emergency purposes only. This membership pack should include this form, a code of contact which all must abide by and information about the club and payment details including membership, training and kit  costs. All this information will make it a lot easier to ensure everyone in the club knows the rules and sets the standard of the club.

One vital thing about starting a club is to be available and enthusiastic about Netball and the club itself, this will pay off on to everyone else and make sure you find others that are willing to help you.
