✨ Derbyshire PDP Awards 2025 – Year 9 & 10 Superstars ✨ Huge congratulations to our players who have shown amazing talent, progress, and dedication throughout this season. We’re so proud of every player in the programme, and these award winners truly stood out ? Year 9 Awards ✨ Most Improved – Sophia Szabo Sophia’s growth has been outstanding. Her adaptability and defensive strength earned her a place in the starting seven – a fantastic journey this season! ✨ Coach’s Player – Livi Vickers Livi has risen to every challenge, showing leadership, determination, and resilience. A future role model in the making. ✨ Outstanding Player – Annie Niven Annie’s athleticism and relentless work rate are second to none. Whether in attack or defence, she consistently delivers. ✨ Special Recognition – Phoebe Loftas Originally a training partner, Phoebe’s courage, resilience, and versatility made a huge impact. A standout on and off the court. ✨ Players’ Player – Deena Kalinins Voted by her teammates for her positivity, support, and all-round impact. A true team player. Year 10 Awards ✨Outstanding Player – Heidi Sumner A calm, consistent, and commanding defender. Heidi led by example all season ✨Most Improved – Alice Vaughan Alice’s development this year has been incredible. Her impact across the mid-court shows how far she’s come. ✨ Coach’s Player – Lauren Tuhme Lauren’s vision, precision, and leadership in the attacking end created countless opportunities. ✨ Special Recognition – Mollie Cooling & Kessie Webster Selected for Loughborough Lightning during the season ? Their growth, grit, and performance were exceptional. Bittersweet to see them move on, but we’re so proud! ✨ Players’ Player – Heidi Sumner A double award winner – clearly admired by teammates A big thank you to every athlete for your energy, commitment, and love for the game. Derbyshire Netball Awards 2025 – Celebrating Our Community Champions ?Young Umpire of the Year – Holly Smith Already making her mark, Holly has umpired at Regional Schools, supported Derbyshire U15s, and even officiated as a pre-match to a Superleague game. ?Umpire of the Year – Barbara Smith Over 30 years of dedicated umpiring across Derbyshire leagues, giving her time freely and generously. A selfless volunteer. ?Young Coach of the Year – Blossom Diffin Blossom is a trusted role model and brings positivity, leadership, and smiles to every session. Her calm energy uplifts everyone she coaches. ?Coach of the Year – Kelly Hopkinson A committed PDP coach who’s shaped teams and shared her knowledge across regions. Today I am calling “Celebration Friday” At the @netballineastmidlands ONE awards last week our very own @hollidgesarah won the Jean Stanley Award. This award is for someone who has been involved in club, county and region in one or more roles. And we are so proud that Sarah won. Sarah has been an invaluable member of the netball community, playing integral roles both on and off the court. At Cooper Stars, she served not only as a committed player but also took on essential roles such as Safeguarding Officer and COVID Officer. Over her 7 years with the team, Sarah proved to be a reliable and selfless teammate—always willing to step in when needed and often playing in the defensive circle alongside her daughter, which she greatly enjoyed. Beyond Cooper Stars, Sarah has played a significant role in the wider netball community. She has been a dedicated volunteer with the Burton and District League committee for the past 3–4 years, where her experience, calm reasoning, and commitment to positive change have been greatly valued. She has also regularly supported junior coaching sessions, offering her time, energy, and expertise to nurture the next generation of players. Sarah has made meaningful contributions at the regional level, playing integral roles in both the Derbyshire County Management Board (CMB) and the East Midlands netball community. Her dedication and impact across all levels of the sport have made her an exceptional ambassador for netball. CONGRATULATIONS ?❤️

? This moment definitely deserves its own post! ?? Our lovely Pauline made a heartwarming return to the Walking Netball group this week after breaking her hip. Pauline, being the thoughtful person she is, brought flowers for Julie and Mary as a thank you, along with lots of delicious cakes! ?? ?? Ripley Netball Club’s 30th Anniversary Celebration! ?✨ Can we have a shout out for Ripley Netball Club who had an unforgettable weekend celebrating their 30th anniversary?. Players, coaches, officials, team managers, and their families enjoyed live music, a caricature artist, a bouncy castle, a ball pit, and even a bucking bronco! ?? Trophies were presented to teams by our proud Derbyshire Netball reps Pauline Brasher and Mary Yardley. Congratulations to all the winners! And a huge well done to Eran Warren, who was awarded the Club Member Shield for her outstanding contribution to Ripley Netball Club. ?? ? Meet the Member: Donna Beckett! ?✨ Donna Beckett’s umpiring journey began in 1995 as a C Award Umpire, quickly joining the Yardley League, which is close to her heart for its wonderful ethos. By 2005, she achieved her A Award and began umpiring at the Premier level. In the same year, Donna took on her current role as Lead for the Officiating Technical Support Group (TSG). She takes great pride in this role, and with the support of her group, they achieve fantastic results within the county. Donna is also a dedicated member of the Derbyshire County Management Board and the East Midland Regional Board. While she enjoys these roles, her greatest passion is mentoring. Donna loves helping umpires develop and gain confidence, whether they’re just starting out or looking to advance. She believes each individual’s journey is unique and cherishes the opportunity to support them every step of the way.
